- When: 2026
- Launched: 11 September 2026

The client
Black Thrive Lambeth is a partnership founded in 2016 between Lambeth Council, South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust and community organisations. The toolkit was designed with The Office of Art and Technology.
The brief
Create a toolkit for Black men that talks honestly about health, money and wellbeing, and points them to real help. It needed to come from Black men’s own experiences, and be useful to any man who finds it.
What we made
- Research with Black men across the country through short in-person conversations, focus groups and interviews
- A website with six chapters, body, mind, money, spirit, brotherhood and community, each built around a story, real questions and next steps
- Six composite characters drawn from those conversations, aged between 24 and 65
- A five-question quiz that points each reader to the chapter that matters most to them
- A resource finder of more than 300 free or low-cost UK organisations, many of them Black-led, plus a section for LGBTQ+ men
- A 54-page printed booklet version of the toolkit
My role
I was delivery lead at The Office of Art and Technology, and led the project from research to launch. I ran and analysed the research myself, including 42 paid interviews and focus groups. I took the printed booklet through to print-ready files, set up the website’s domain and hosting, and wrote the handover documents and how-to guides so Black Thrive’s team can run the site.
I also proposed a costed launch plan with three options: a launch event, a social media campaign with Black British pages, and a partnership programme with groups that serve Black men. With no launch budget in place, I designed and ran my own UK-wide email campaign to organisations that support Black men.
The toolkit is live and open to every man who needs it.
